Growing pains

I find it so strange that I’m already thinking ‘how fast time flies’ when it comes to Edward. I thought that would come much later, but at only 3 and a half months I’ve already started forgetting what he was like as a newborn. Everything is happening so fast, and he’s definetly not that little infant we brought home from the hospital. When he’s not sleepy/grumpy he’s usually a very happy boy, and he loves exploring. He’s really becoming a master at sitting when we support him, so now he’s decided he wants to stand and he’s getting better every week.

I’m so proud of my little boy, and I’m proud of myself for being his mommy, I think I’m doing a pretty good job!

Weighing in, week 4

I was so dissapointed stepping on the scale this morning finding out I had only lost 300 grams this week. That feels like nothing to me! I did feel I had a good workout week on the weekdays, but I got nothing done during the weekend since I was alone with Edward and the daycare fills up pretty quick the few hours it’s open. Foodwise it wasn’t quite as good though, I definetly splurged on Friday in the cookie department, and of course I regret that now! I will however do better next week, and hopefully that will show on the scale come next Sunday!

Monday: Got a good 35 minute power walk with the pram, working up quite a sweat. This was day one of week two of the running program I’ve started.

Tuesday: Got to the gym quite late, so I only got 23 minutes on the elliptical, but I did good interval work and got the juices pumping.

Wednesday: Finally started my routine with weights, which was a challenged for my weak muscles but really fun! Definetly felt it the next day.

Thursday: Had to take Edward to the doctor so no gym, but walked for an hour combined (5km) to and from the town center.

Friday: Same as Wednesday!

I was planning on finishing the running program over the weekend, just running around the neighbourhood, but suddenly a load of snow but a stop to that. Annoying! I hate having unfinished work, it’s just too stressing. I will try to do the two days from this week and well as next weeks program in week 5 so I will be on track by next Sunday. Wish me luck!

Hectic week

So sorry for the complete lack of blogging this week you guys, this week has been a big mess at our house. I’ve spent most of the week all alone with Edward and he has really been taking up all of my time. This is the first time I’ve been alone with him during the night, and it’s been really straining. I have so much respect for single parents it’s insane! I have no idea how it’s possible to survive this way. I was so relived when hubs finally returned from a work trip late Thursday night, and excited to finally get some help with Edward again, but it seems he’s gotten pretty addicted to me in just a few days. Most of the time he wants to be glued to my body! To make it worse hubs left again this morning, and we only get three days together next week. I do have my new bronzer to keep me company when Edward is asleep, a travel gift from hubs (a tradition for us when one travels without the other), the DiorSkin Nude Tan bronzer which comes in the most amazing compact with a little kabuki as well. I adore the design, and of course it will look perfect in my future Lady Dior handbag! But first I’m excited for it to become spring so I can wear this baby! I’ve also been planning this summers trip to London, and I’ve found so many places I want to eat! No way we can visit all of them in such few days.

Weighing in, week 3

This week has not been as big on working out as it should, but I have gotten a great deal of planning done. I’ve been setting small weight loss goals, so it will be easier to keep my eyes on the 60kg prize at the end which will reward me one Hervé Leger bandage dress. I’ve also joined Fitocracy to keep track of my workout, which I’ve heard is important in order to see progress. I’m also wondering if I should keep a journal, because I think my profile is a bit messy.

All in all I think it was a good week, well atleast it was a good start!

Wednesday: I started the running program for beginners (norwegian) made by Löplabbet, worked up quite a sweat walking like a beast.

Friday: Finally joined a gym and I ended up with SATS, one of the biggest chains in Scandinavia. I left Edward in their little daycare section and did day 2 of the runners program. I only did 1 min running intervals, which I thought would be a cakewalk, but boy was I wrong! Got a short but good workout and Edward slept through everything.

Saturday: Hubs and I took Edward out in his pram for a little hike up the last bit of Fløien, a little mountain in the city center of Bergen. It was straight up hill and dark and icy, so we took it quite slow and only did 2.2 km in 37 minutes.

Sunday: Started the day with the same hike as yesterday and added a little walk when we reached the top, so it ended up being 3.8km in 1 hour 7 minutes. I also had my first meet with a personal trainer at SATS (you get three sessions for free if you join right now) and she made me my own little program using equipment and weights and showed me how to it. Also had a little chat about food and eating habits, and it seems I’m on the right path! Ended the day with finishing week one of the running program at 23.30, but what the heck, it’s better then not finishing!

I haven’t started doing measurements yet, but I did hit the scale this morning. It was 82.6kg which is down from last time, but still a dissapointment because I did weigh myself on Thursday as well and it was 81.9kg. I didn’t think I put on weight during those days, I just think it differs from day to day sometimes, but that doesn’t make it any less stupid. I’m not letting it bring me down though, it just gave me more motivation to work harder!

I wanted to tip you big busted ladies out there about the best sports bra in the world, Shock Absorber! I’d read about these before, about how amazing they are, and I was really blown away when I first tried one just before christmas. I just got mine last week and I’m so happy! I’ve never been able to run because it’s just painful when my boobies bounce around. I got the ‘run’ model, which I think is the one that has the best support, and it really is amazing. My boobs still bounce a bit, but it’s not painful and it doesn’t make me look like a damn fool.

The band does run a bit small, and I ended up with a 38F, even though I usually fit a 36F. Cup-wise I would say it’s true to size. I bought mine on Net-a-Porter, and they have another colour on sale so if you’re lucky you could find your size really cheap! If you’re in Norway you can also buy it at Löplabbet, but it’s cheaper to order it of NAP (price+shipping, and taxes is always included).

A Bargain from Burberry

You will not believe my surprised when I walked into my favorite shop on Saturday (that would be Vincci, the best place for designer clothes in Bergen) and found they had everything in womens wear half off! I didn’t think I would find anything, but there it was, the beautiful Burberry wool coat I’ve wanted since they got it in July. There was one left, and it was my size! I almost peed my pants. I blogged about it in December in my ‘Winter Essentials’ post, and I was actually going to buy it at full price when we visit London next winter!

It’s just so perfect, it’s everything I wanted in a coat! It’s the perfect camel colour, pure wool, perfect length and sooooo soft. It doesn’t fit perfectly when it’s closed, yet! As you know I’m on a diet, and I think it’s better that it’s too small now then too big next winter. The colour is most like the last picture.

Top 10 Beauty Products of 2012

It’s been a stressfull few days in Bergen since we got back, Edward was super tired, and it’s taken me some time to round up my absolute favorite beauty products of 2012. And here you have the top ten products I discovered (or re-discovered) in 2012 that made an impact on me, not including my staples and holy grail products that have already been with me for years. I will probably blog about those at a later time.

1. Kèrastase Resistance Double Force hairspray - I’m not sure if I purchased this in 2011 or early 2012, but I didn’t really fall for it until this summer. It’s light weight, doesn’t make my hair dry and you can brush it out in the evening. Light hold, but holds all day. It’s like a better and more expensive version of L’Oreal Elnett.

2. YSL Le Teint Touche Éclait foundation – This foundation is out of this world! I never really fell for the concealer pen, but this is the best foundation I’ve used so far. It has a flawless finish and comes in an array of shades (I use B10). Coverage is up to you, and I use it as medium to full coverage. I actually think this is more beautiful without a finishing powder (a first for me) and I think they should come out with a setting powder specifically for this. And of course it looks great all night long!

3. La Prairie Purifying Cream Cleanser – First tried this a few years ago, but on the hunt for a HG cleanser I went onto something else afterwards and this was kind of lost. I re-discovered it this summer, and have already repurchased. It’s very rich and creamy, perfect for my dry skin, and it doesn’t break me out either (I have very sensitive skin). Not to mention the amazing smell! This might turn into a staple for me.

4. Bioderma Crèaline H2O make-up remover – Having read rave reviews, I didn’t hesitate to buy this at IMATS London in February, and we’ve been best friends ever since. This really is the most amazing make-up remover there is! It removes everything so easy (I have another for mascara though) and it couldn’t irritate even if it tried. I can never see myself trying anything else! On the website it says it’s a cleanser as well, but I always use my regular cleanser after this.

5. Bare Escentuals Buxom lipgloss – I really love this plumping lipgloss! I love the tingly feeling when you first apply, the colour and of course the glossy effect. So few glosses these days are still glossy five minutes later, but I find this looks really good for hours if I don’t eat or drink. I have been using this for special occasions.

6. Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes lipgloss – In July this made me fall inlove with lipgloss. I’ve always been a lipstick or nothing kind of girl, nothing being my everyday and making me look washed out on a regular basis. This really is a subtle gloss that gives just a hint of colour. It’s glossy without being sticky, but not so glossy it’s too much for school or work. I only have the one shade so far (161 Bagatelle) but I will without a doubt buy more!

7. Chanel UV Essentiel Protective UV Care SPF 50 – The perfect product if you want high protection against UV-rays but not the greasy feel of regular sunblock. I’ve always been lazy about wearing sunscreen just for going to work or under make-up, because I hate the feeling and look of a high SPF sunscreen on my face, it’s like they never dry! This goes on quite matte actually, and almost acts like a primer. The protection is very good (my skintone did look amazing this summer) but remember to re-apply during the day because it only protects for a few hours at a time. Still worth it though, and besides the tiny bottle fits perfectly in any purse.

8. OPI Skyfall Collection – I had to add the whole collection, because all of these polishes have been used plenty this fall. The formula is great as always with OPI, and the colours are just to die for. ‘Skyfall’ (maroon) has become an everyday staple for me for when I don’t want to wear black, and ‘Goldeneye’ is the perfect gold glitter.

9. Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder – I embraced tan this summer, for the first time, and I see now why so many people love this bronzer. If I don’t fake tan I use the shade 00 and it’s astonishing how healthy it makes me look. It has a little sparkle as well, which I love! Can’t wait to bring it out again for spring, and I also have a darker shade ready for when I tan.

10. Chanel Regard Signé de Chanel eyeshadow quad – Haven’t used this alot yet, but wow has it made an impact! I knew I had to have this when I first saw swatches online. When I finally found it in store I hesitated because of the price, but boy was I glad I bought it. The colours are beautiful and perfect for my light complexion, red hair and blue eyes. But what makes this so fabulous is the amazing quality of the shadows. They’re so velvety, and I experienced no fallout what so ever! This will no doubt become a staple and I will be very sad when I run out because I couldn’t afford stocking up.

Day Zero

This is my day zero. The last day of my old life, tomorrow everything changes. I don’t want to call these new years resolutions, because those are always broken. And it is somewhat of a coincidence that it starts now, because it would be difficult during our holiday roadtrip.

Point it, it’s time to shed some weight and become a healthier, happier me. I’ve gained so much weight these past few years, and if you’re a follower you know how much I hate the way my body has ended up. But I haven’t given up! Lots of changes coming my way, and hubs has to follow too so we can support eachother and both become better people.

Here’s what’s going to change:

- I’m going to work out atleast 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday) as well as keep walking with Edward every day.

- Eat less sugar, carbs and dairy.

- Eat more vegetables and other healthy foods.

- Candy is only allowed once a week.

Looking at these four lines it seems like so little, but I know these will be very big changes for me. I have a sweet tooth like crazy, and I haven’t gone to the gym regularly in years. Which is why it’s time! I don’t think I’ve ever been this motivated to change, and I must admit I’m very excited! I’m going to weigh myself before going to the gym on Saturday, and possibly do some measurements to keep track of my (hopeful) progress. I want to be back at around 60 kilos, and the body I had when I was 19. Or atleast as close to that body as possible, I have had a baby after all! If I can look like this again, I will be very happy!

Luckly I also have some amazing new running shoes from Nike (from my mom for christmas) to keep me motivated, and I’m picking up some new leggings as well. I always dress to the occasion, and it makes me feel better!

Is anyone else going for a healthier lifestyle this year? Tell me how you’re doing it and what keeps you motivated! I’ve been wanting to try out Nike+ as I’ve heard it’s really motivational, but I don’t have any devices to use it with yet. I don’t want to use the mirror as referance, it’s too easy to just see your old self! I guess weight will do for now, and hopefully old clothes will fit better.

To anyone else doing this; GOOD LUCK! We’re going to need it.
